Summary

Our laboratory studies the role of enzymes and their inhibitors in health and disease. Primary areas of interest focus on the vascular biology of the CNS and the development of peripheral vascular and fibrotic disease including understanding how specific factors drive vascular and fibrotic disease. We use combinations of biochemical, molecular, and genetic approaches and in vivo models of disease. The successful candidate will become a member of a collaborative research lab involved in the identification and functional analysis of molecular factors contributing to disease. The position is involves on biochemical assays, protein work, and mouse models.

Responsibilities*

  • Perform experiments including mouse behavior, mouse injections, gavage dosing, blood collection for plasma/serum, organ removal, chromogenic and fluorogenic biochemical assays, plasma clotting assay (aPTT, PT, TCT, factor deficient).

  • Recombinant protein purification and analysis including SDS-PAGE staining, zymography, western blot, Elisa, Luminex assay, Platelet aggregation (whole blood and PRP), Tissue culture (maintenance and experiments).

Required Qualifications*

  • Senior: Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years' experience required. Previous experience in a bench science research laboratory is required.

  • Intermediate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 1-3 years' experience required.

  • Associate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 0?1-year experience required.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Senior: Experience with phenotyping animal models, immunology techniques, RNA/protein protocols, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques preferred.

  • Intermediate: Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Associate: Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Work Schedule

The flexibility to be able to conduct experiments over some weekends.

Background Screening
