Job Summary:

The Outdoor and Recreation segment products enable outdoor, backyard, and indoor fun and memories including tents, coolers, beverage ware, apparel, and more. The Senior Quality Engineer represents the Quality function for assigned product categories on key innovation projects and in market product improvements for North America. She or he will be a part of a tight knit cross functional team including our Brand, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams. This position will:

  • Partner with the business for assigned new product innovation projects to drive 5-star product reviews.

  • Participate in identification of critical to quality product variables, qualification planning, and analyze test results.

  • Assist with solving issues in engineering, component, and assembly.

  • Ensure product quality scales from test builds to production rates while remaining below target defect rates.

  • Identify and execute key product improvement plans for in-market products.

  • Identify product improvement opportunities based on voice of consumer/customer.

  • Determine root cause and execute corrective actions to resolve defects.

  • Partner with Supplier Quality on our quality management process including process improvements and training.

  • Embody Newell values including ownership of product quality, transparency, and continued personal growth.

  • Be in Atlanta and be in the office at least three days per week.

  • Be able to travel up to 15% to visit domestic and international suppliers as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science

  • 5+ years of quality experience

  • Is curious about consumer expectations that leads to 5-star product ratings.

  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and influence skills for dealing with internal and external suppliers and customers.

Demonstrated success:

  • Using CI tools including statistics, AQL sampling, auditing, statistical process control, and reliability.

  • Using Advanced Quality Planning Tools such as DVPR, PPAP, statistical process control, control plans, FMEA, building inspection and production quality plans.

  • Executing multiple activities at the same time.

  • Previous experience:

  • Using statistical software to evaluate options to recommend a path forward (JMP, Minitab, etc.).

  • Working inside a Quality Management system (ISO / AS / TS / FDA).

  • Working in a matrix organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previously dealt with North American retailer’s quality process and working with their quality teams when needed.

  • Previous experiences with

  • Manufactured and contract manufacturing with a diverse international supplier base.

  • Working for a consumer product company.

  • Risk assessment and review with Legal and executives.

  • Authoring and publishing PowerBI reports analyze large data sets.
