Johns Hopkins University Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Research Administration and Student Mentorship in Baltimore, Maryland

The Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity (URSCA) in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Research Administration and Student Mentorship. The duration of the Fellowship is 15 months (May 2024-August 2025).

The URSCA office manages selection, advising, and programming for a variety of undergraduate research grants and fellowships for Hopkins students; runs a national undergraduate humanities research symposium; publishes an undergraduate humanities research journal; and oversees several national summer research programs for visiting students. We seek a creative, flexible, and organized individual to support our work in all of these areas, including student research project mentorship, curriculum development, instructional support, editing and publishing, project management, and assessment of programmatic outcomes.

The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow will benefit from tested mentorship, and grow their skills in program design, culturally responsive teaching, interinstitutional awareness, and student mentoring. Our office is highly interdisciplinary and cooperative, and the fellow will gain experience working with Hopkins students across disciplines; community college, HBCU, and MSI students in the humanities and social sciences; and KSAS faculty, staff, and leadership. Further, the postdoc may bring their research expertise to our ongoing study of the outcomes and impacts of the Mellon Humanities Collaboratory, and may contribute to a publication.

The fellowship begins in May 2024, and is 15 months, ending in August 2025. It carries an annual salary of $55,000 (so, $68,700 for the 15 months) and provides eligibility to participate in the Johns Hopkins University health insurance plans. Eligibility requirements are detailed on the application, but it is important to note that the selected fellow must defend their humanities or humanistic social science project by May 1, 2024.
