Join the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology and Oncology! We are seeking candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position. Applicants must have an M.D or equivalent, or M.D. (or equivalent)/Ph.D. degree. Must have board certification in pediatric hematology-oncology (preferred) or medical hematology. Position Highlights: · Superb working environment · Collaborate with experts in all pediatric specialties and other departments · Ripe environment for research program growth · Opportunities to interact with trainees across all levels Features: · Pediatric component of an expanded NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center · Access to centralized research cores and informatics center within the School of Medicine · State of the art 52-bed Level IV NICU, 19 bed PICU,35 general pediatric beds, 20 bed Pediatric Emergency Department Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows, as well as PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient service in pediatric hematology. Research or scholarship responsibilities may include research involving patients with sickle hemoglobinopathies. The successful candidate will be a recognized leader in the field of non-malignant blood disorders and will have a track record of outstanding research accomplishments and extramural funding, demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines. We are seeking candidates with a strong record of scholarship and publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating a national/regional reputation. The successful applicant will have a national reputation in research involving patients with sickle hemoglobinopathies, program administration skills and commitment to direct and grow a clinical program, including interaction with patient advocacy groups. Significant research and clinical resources, space for the research, clinical programs and protected time will be provided to the successful candidate. This individual will build upon our existing Sickle Cell Disease efforts with the goal of further expanding our institution’s reputation as a leader in research, education, and treatment of hemoglobin disorders. Sickle cell funding in research is required to complement ongoing sickle cell research on the University of Maryland Baltimore campus and highlight a multidisciplinary sickle cell care approach with collaboration with pulmonology, cardiology, endocrinology, anddental specialists and transitioning young adults to our adult hematology group. We are extremely interested in expanding opportunities in gene therapy and stem cell transplant for our pediatric sickle cell patients.
