Microchip Technology Sr. Product Engineer 1 in Boulder, Colorado


The Sr. Product Engineer 1 works closely with the engineering design team on project concept, specials and new product introduction (NPI). The Sr. Product Engineer 1 will be the key resource in bridging the gap between engineering and operations in transferring products to production environment. The Sr. Product Engineer 1 provides support to Boulder’s production through the entire product lifecycle.

  • Early involvement with engineering in the design phase helping with quick turns, prototype execution, coordinating releases, and board bring-up.

  • NPI, driving actions related to product cost optimization, quality and transfer to production.

  • Dfx are areas of focus, involving design for manufacturability, assembly, automation, test, cost, quality, and supply chain.

  • Drive value engineering and provide product technical expertise in resolving product issues.

  • Work with contract manufacturing partners in launching product build from prototypes to production.


  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years’ experience in the development or launch of new products.

  • 5+ years directly-applicable manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the following:

  • Product life cycle management (PLM) tools like Agile

  • NPI and Manufacturing processes

  • Product design and familiarity with Dfx (includes manufacturing, cost, quality, reliability) tools

  • Handling product quality, yields, failure analysis and problem isolation/resolution.

  • Demonstrated acumen in utilizing engineering judgment and problem solving.

  • Driving process optimization to improve Quality, Cost and Yield, and continuously improve product and process performance.

  • This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of US citizenship.
