Duties

Perform engineering and provide technical direction and oversight of technicians for substation projects up to 345kV. Prepare a variety of moderately complex engineering deliverables for substation design. This may include analysis, calculations, research, selection, layout, etc., necessary to develop required design documents specific to client standards. Design wiring and schematic diagrams for relaying panels, SCADA drawings, one line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC diagrams, electrical plan views, electrical section views, conduit/raceway plans, cable charts, grounding plans and bill of materials. Provide various calculations, such as AC & DC, lightning, voltage drop and conduit fill. Prepare project budgets, proposals & perform QA/QC tasks. Prepare design materials for basic design assignments. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work. Coordinate design efforts with other project personnel in the same or other departments. Coordinated items include space control, schedule, and layout optimization. Evaluate manufacturer's or contractor's proposals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with B&V criteria. Prepare assigned reports, studies, or analysis for project. Maintain records, lists, schedules, etc., for High Voltage Substation engineering projects. Perform work in a team environment and collaborate with the client and other electrical and civil engineers. Supervise Electrical Engineers. No hire/fire authority. Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H1-B visa, TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related, plus three years of related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF writing software including Bluebeam Revu, Adobe, or related, is required. Must have experience with applicable codes and standards for substation projects, including NESC, NEC, and IEEE. National travel required up to 10%. Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from the Burlington, MA office. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
