Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, our Burnaby, BC office is seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical (Power, Instrumentation, Control & Communications) Drafter / Designer to support studies, engineering design, procurement and execution of infrastructure for both surface and underground facilities. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to deliver various projects for our clients here in Canada and occasionally overseas.

Reporting to the Electrical Lead, the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure project work is undertaken in accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems.

  • Work within a project team environment and possess good presentation and client (internal & external) interface skills. This may include regular liaison with a mix of in-person and remote team members, to deliver a variety of projects.

  • Undertake Electrical design including the preparation of all design drawings and associated supporting files / references. Drawings include, but not limited to, single line diagrams, P&IDs, PFDs, communications block diagrams, site equipment and services reticulation layouts, substation layouts, equipment general arrangements, schematic diagrams and termination/loop diagrams.

  • Assist the Electrical engineers with the design, including providing feedback on data such as Equipment Lists, PLC I/O list and general practicality.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A strong AutoCAD knowledge with +6 years’ relevant working experience in the Electrical industry.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to prepare, design and self-check Electrical drawings autonomously with minimal supervision such as single line diagrams, P&IDs, PFDs, communications block diagrams, site equipment and services reticulation layouts, substation layouts, equipment general arrangements, schematic diagrams and termination/loop diagrams.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to interpret vendor drawings / data to prepare integration / interfacing drawings.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to apply appropriate ANSI, ISA and CSA symbology on Electrical drawings as required.

  • An intermediate to strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Valid Class V Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working within an engineering firm to deliver Electrical design drawings for mine infrastructure including bulk materials handling, substation and services reticulation.

  • Experience in working with drafting and modelling software such as Revit, BIM360 and Navisworks.

  • Experience in working with Teams and Sharepoint.

  • An intermediate to strong verbal, reading and written communications skills in English.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation in Burnaby, BC will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $120,000.
