Microchip Technology Product Marketing Manager in Burnaby, Canada

Description

As a Product Manager in Microchip's Communications Business Unit (CBU), your mandate will be to diversify and grow Microchip's incumbency and revenue streams in telecom service provider infrastructure and datacenter markets, focusing on current and emerging technologies for products specifically for Metro optical transport networking (OTN), Optical Transceivers, Routers and Ethernet switches.

In this role, you will champion all aspects of market success including idea generation, product definition, customer management, product launch and sales enablement. You will be a highly-motivated individual (a "go-getter") who will get to develop expertise in the telecom and datacenter markets, work closely with multiple organizations within Microchip on the implementation of the marketing or business strategy and support the business ecosystem (customers, sales and partners).

Key Responsibilities:

Product Marketing & Product Line Management:

  • Ensures successful product launches and executes on go to market plans

  • Develops product positioning, key benefits and differentiation messaging

  • Develops effective outbound product collateral, sales training presentations and customer presentations

  • Focuses aggressively on winning designs and driving successful business plans

  • Develops and maintains internal competitive analysis for sales and product marketing strategies

  • Partners with sales in articulating the solutions to the customers and develops pricing strategies

  • Builds and maintains strategic relationships with customers at all levels, including R&D, Procurement and Product Management

  • Product expert for sales and the customer's system architects/engineers

  • Works with internal cross-functional teams to champion customer requirements and issues

  • Maintains product line business cases to ensure business metrics are met

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Analyzes market segments to identify new opportunities and develops strategic recommendations based on the analysis (e.g. market sizing, key trends and market inflections, market share leaders, market metrics, etc.)

  • Monitors emerging requirements and analyzes their impact on product roadmaps and strategies

Travel maybe required in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific regions.

Requirements

The successful candidate:

  • Must be authorized to work in Canada for any employer

  • Technical and business experience, preferably in technology product management/marketing, technical sales or systems engineering, with prior experience in the telecommunications hardware/software or semiconductor markets would be desirable

  • Has at minimum an undergraduate degree in Electrical engineering. An MBA or Master degree in a related discipline would be desirable

  • Has familiarity with Ethernet, OTN framing, Optical Modulator Drivers or Physical layer technologies would be an asset

  • Understands technical/architectural requirements and has experience interfacing with customers in both R&D and Product Management environments

  • Has strong written and verbal English communication skills with proven ability in writing white papers, technical documentation and customer presentations

  • Demonstrates a passion for advanced technology

  • Demonstrates a history of successful decisions based on strong business acumen

  • Thrives in a fast pace environment by learning quickly and independently, multi-tasking, staying organized and prioritizing tasks and projects
