Microchip Technology Senior Engineer Firmware in Burnaby, Canada
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated engineer to work with our embedded software verification team in the Communication Business Unit at Microchip. As a Senior Software/Firmware Verification Engineer, you will be part of a team of professionals designing and implementing tests for embedded software and drivers for modern System-on-Chip (SoC) wireline infrastructure devices. You will participate in all stages of the software project, for example: defining functional test plans, building/supporting test frameworks and test infrastructure, designing and implementing tests and working with the Software Development teams to resolve bugs.
Translate functional specifications, requirements and standards into comprehensive test plans
Design, develop, and debug tests to verify embedded software/firmware and maintain these tests in regression
Root causing of issues & where possible performing code updates with guidance from development teams
Maintaining and automating regular build processes and regression with our CI system
Developing and maintaining test frameworks for both pre-silicon and post-silicon testing
Contribute to the analysis of 3rd party tools and the definition of processes related to test methodology and its interaction with development procedures
Setup and configuration of 3rd party test equipment and PMC SoC test boards for SW verification
Writing and reviewing comprehensive engineering documentation
Entry and tracking of issues in corporate tracking and resolution tools (JIRA)
Work with the product development, application, and validation engineering teams as part of test related activities
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
4 to 8 years of related work experience in Software/Firmware Verification
Strong knowledge of C/C++ and Python programming
Strong knowledge of Object Oriented design principles
Experience with FPGA/ASICs and working knowledge of Verilog is an asset.
Must be comfortable in a lab environment engaging in hardware/software/firmware bring up and debug activities.
Knowledge of Linux OS drivers and RTOS constructs is an asset
Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated a systematic approach to problem-solving within a team and on your own.
Strong interpersonal skills, experience as part of a collaborative development team, and a passion for mentoring those around you
