University of Miami Asst. Director, Athletic Facilities, Events & Operations in Coral Gables, Florida

The Assistant Director of Facilities, Events & Operations is responsible for the planning and execution of assigned home athletic events and assisting with overall management of assigned facilities. This position will work closely with assigned sports and athletics staff to ensure appropriate execution of events and a safe, clean environment inside the assigned facilities. The Assistant Director conducts facility walkthroughs, submits and manages work orders, and assists with daily facility operations. This position also includes facility maintenance and repairs responsibilities, works closely with university facilities and operations personnel, and assists with providing leadership and direction to the unit’s student workforce.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for gameday operations of assigned sport programs and serves as a secondary contact for home football games.

  • Responsible for daily maintenance and upkeep for assigned athletic facilities.

  • Responsible for the submission of bids to host ACC and NCAA postseason events for assigned sports and serve as tournament director if selected to host.

  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring all assigned athletic venues are ready for competition including setup and breakdown.

  • Assists with management of game operations and facility budgets for assigned sports and venues.

  • Assists with management and coordination of assigned outside/external events.

  • Assists with coordinating game day staff including, but not limited to, DVSport Replay Technician, scoreboard operators, game clock operators, shot clock, and pitch clock operators.

  • Work directly with BEST Security, University of Miami PD, Coral Gables PD, University of Miami Parking and Transportation and other outside agencies to ensure assigned athletic events are properly staffed.

  • Assist with stadium management and game day operations for home football games at Hard Rock Stadium.

  • Assists with emergency management preparation and post recovery operations.

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, ACC, institutional, and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director for Facilities, Events & Operations, and/or Director of Facilities, Events & Operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines with limited resources and multiple competing priorities.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with administrators, coaches, staff, patrons, and external constituents.

  • Communicates effectively 1:1, in small groups and in public speaking events.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate well with others and promote a team atmosphere.

  • Writes precise, well-organized emails, letters, and proposals while consistently displaying accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Business acumen that includes general operational processes and planning.

  • Ability to enhance innovation and new ideas with all team members.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • 2+ years of experience

  • Previous exposure to university-level athletics programs and operations.

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working effectively with individuals from various backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
