You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. The Camera Hardware Engineering group is seeking a talented, experienced Image Quality Field Test Engineer to coordinate, execute, and analyze subjective image quality tests. You will focus on real world camera performance, translating objective data into end user focused photo shoots that illustrate the benefits of new camera technologies. Key Qualifications

  • 3 years hands on experience testing camera image quality

  • Expertise in translating objective measurements into real world subjective captures

  • Experience executing image quality related field shoots for camera development

  • Understanding of how camera optics, image sensors, and ISP algorithms (AE, AWB, AF, etc.) impact final images/videos

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Attention to detail and notable organizational skills

  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and self motivation to expand technical knowledge

  • Strong understanding of photographic principles and professional equipment (lighting kits, lenses, etc)

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs over uneven terrain

Description

  • Can translate HW issues into real world risk analysis - Combination of deep and broad expertise accessing subjective and objective image quality - Scripting skills (Python preferred) and terminal experience interacting with development HW - Exposure to Matlab related to digital image processing helpful - Expertise in the camera systems and professional photography equipment including lighting setups in studio environments - Experience driving multi-functional image quality conversations and actions - Analyze subjective image and video data collected in the field - Build reports and deliver executive level presentations - Perform tests related to product benchmark studies - Identify, reproduce, and isolate bugs found via image and video analysis - Comfortable working independently and in a fast paced development environment

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Additional Requirements

  • Photographic or Imaging Sciences and mobile camera IQ testing experience is helpful.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300.00 and $241,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
