Google Hardware Engineer, Design and Test, Quantum AI in Goleta, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience with electrical measurements and analysis.

  • Experience with electronics design.

  • Experience with testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with accelerated lifetime tests and component reliability analysis.

  • Experience with simulation and design of RF circuits and systems.

  • Experience with programming in Python, C++/C, or similar.

  • Experience with cryogenics or mechanical design.

  • Experience with RF measurement and analysis.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.

As a Quantum Hardware Engineer for Design and Test, you will solve the team’s integration and interconnect challenges. You will be responsible for realizing new technologies for delivery and conditioning of high-density microwave electronics signals operating in a cryogenic environment. You will collaborate with other researchers and engineers on the Quantum AI team to develop cryogenic microwave interconnect technologies to be used in our next generation of quantum computers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Write and execute test plans to assess achievable pitch, electrical, mechanical, and thermal performance, and yield/reliability.

  • Quantify and improve performance and yield metrics, participating in failure analysis and collaborating with the broader team.

  • Collaborate with the team to design and simulate new signal transmission and filtering solutions.

  • Write documentation and transfer newly developed processes/technologies to in-house or external production.

  • Help productionize manufacturing, assembly, and integration of new electrical components.
