Kurz Transfer Products Product Group Engineer in Lexington, North Carolina

Job Summary

The Product Group Engineer is accountable for leading the Continuous Improvement Department and supervising Product Group Specialists while they support production of a specific product line to increase and maintain quality and efficiency while decreasing waste.

This position is directly responsible for the Continuous Improvement Team that has a main goal of decreasing production waste. They will be responsible for improving process stabilization along with investigating cost reduction initiatives.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Monitor efficiency of daily operations on production machines.
  • Initiate measures and processes to improve quality, process stability and manufacturing costs as well as checking the effectiveness of these measures.
  • Communicate with machine operators to ensure the implementation and completion of newly developed continuous improvement adjustments.
  • Identify issues related to waste and efficiency and develop methods to improve them.
  • Lead and assist in failure analysis and troubleshooting of non-conforming material to determine root cause and corrective action plans.
  • Participate and lead reviews and meetings with cross functional teams.
  • Organize projects and workflow to align with tasks and goals set by the department head.
  • Produce and present data findings formally and informally to relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate, document and optimize both old SOPs as well as developing new SOPs and superior methods for more effective and valid data collection.
  • Supervise pilot and production trials and insure theyre completed accurately, promptly, and with the proper documentation.
  • Advocate and develop 6S Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment.
  • Help to enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.
  • Comply, teach, enforce and provide an example for KTP policies, practices and standards of conduct.
  • Any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organizations values.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, problems solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced, team-oriented environment and culture.
  • Ability to lead and influence throughout all organizational levels including any direct or in-direct reports.
  • Proven track record for recording, communicating, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel abroad (<10%).

Experience and Education

  • BS degreein technical engineering (Chemical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Etc.) field with 3 years of related experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, Lean Management and continuous improvement experience are aplus
  • Proficient computer literacy with established basic knowledge in general applications; word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and SAP systems.
  • Experience in highspeed manufacturing environmentrequired.
  • Experience with gravure, offset, flexographic, silk screen, and digital printing technologies and processes aplus
