Senior Citizens Services, Inc. Aquatic and Fitness Center Exercise Specialist in Lima, Ohio

Senior Citizens Services, Inc. (SCS) is looking for a full-time Exercise Specialist to aid in the day-to-day duties of the Wellness department.

Pay: $14.00 + Per Hour (Depending on Experience)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT: An example of acceptable qualifications:  High school diploma or GED) required. Associate degree or bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a health/fitness field preferred; one (1) or more years of experience in fitness, post-rehab, or other related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

NCCA Certified Personal Trainer and/or certified group fitness or aquatics instructor would be preferred. CPR and AED certified(or able to obtain in 30 days); must possess a valid Ohio driver's license.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive:

Computer and computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office and other applicable computer software); fitness equipment.

 

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee will be exposed to general public; may be exposed to irate or emotionally distraught individuals; exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS

 

JOB DUTIES in order of importance

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

(1 )Assists the Wellness Coordinator in developing and implementing programs; obtains initial health history of members and acquires physician approval prior to beginning programs; records changes in members' health while maintaining confidentiality; educates members both individually and in a class setting on proper exercise form, completes fitness assessments and develops step-by-step personal training process. Teaches group fitness classes as needed.

 

(2)  Monitors fitness equipment for safety and required maintenance; assists with special events; develops educational programing; records statistics on attendance; updates member files.

 

(3) Has basic understanding of medical conditions affecting exercise performance and the medications associated with these conditions; continues knowledge of the health/fitness field by reading professional journals and attending workshops and conferences; has good understanding of member emergency protocols.

 

(4) Attends all trainings, conferences, and other meetings as required.

 

(5) Maintains required licensures, certifications, and continuing education requirements, if any.

 

(6) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

 

(7) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
