The Position

Electronic Technician's perform work requiring the application of electronic principles and practices involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, programming and modification of a variety of electronic and computerized equipment.

Under limited supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties in the series concept. This is the journey level in the series.

This position is located in Sparks, Equipment Division. This position maintains Nevada Department of Transportation's fifty-five Fuel Stations for three districts statewide. Must be willing to travel and carry an issued telephone. Background in electrical/electronic and knowledge of circuits, site controllers, and fuel pump experience is preferred. Duties include ordering and maintaining parts and supplies for the fuel pumps. Maintain fuel tank and pump NDEP and Fire Marshall annual certifications. Be able to use OPW/Dover fuel site software and knowledge of OPW/Dover Fuel Site Controller and to be able to troubleshoot and make repairs. Applicant must have the ability to be able to communicate and work with fuel specific contractors in their respective geographical districts and work independently. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Associate's degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in electronics or closely related field and one year of experience performing work involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical and computerized equipment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Electronics Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds overhead.

Additional Position Criteria

A pre-employment criminal history check is required.
