Robert Half Cyber Security Engineer in New York, New York

Description We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team based in New York. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity in the realm of information technology and cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will be responsible for securing our systems and networks, actively protecting sensitive data from cyber threats.

Responsibilities:

• Implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect both on-premises and cloud computing systems.

• Utilizing in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and switches, with a focus on Fortinet systems.

• Gaining hands-on experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions.

• Applying strong understanding and experience in utilizing Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.

• Working extensively with Windows Server 2019-2022 and Linux operating systems.

• Continually updating industry certifications, such as Fortinet, CompTIA, and Cloud Security.

• Monitoring and mitigating potential security risks by staying updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and hacker tactics.

• Collaborating with the IT team to ensure the company's cybersecurity policies are adhered to.

• Conducting regular system tests to ensure the effectiveness of security measures.

• Providing technical support and guidance on security issues to other team members. Requirements • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Cyber Security Engineer or in a similar role.

• Proficiency in Firewall, Cloud Computing, Fortinet Firewalls, SIEM Tools, Windows Server 2019, and Linux.

• Demonstrated ability to identify threats, develop appropriate protection measures, and perform regular audits to ensure the security systems are up-to-date.

• Strong understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members and departments.

• Willingness to continuously update knowledge of the latest cybersecurity trends and hacker tactics.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

• Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) would be advantageous.

• Strong understanding of ethical hacking and ability to conduct penetration testing.
