UW's Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Res Life Temporary Assistant.

The purpose of this position is to provide centralized operational support to the Residential Life Team through administrative, project, and committee work. Serve as the primary point of contact for students, staff and guests seeking information about Residential Life.

Description of Duties

• Serves as the point of contact for the Terry Central Res Life suite for unit partners, for internal and external questions. • Provides information related to Residential Life program policies, procedures, and operations. • Provides operational support to the Residential Life Team as assigned, including: coordinating meetings, reserving spaces, distributing agendas, and recording and distributing meeting minutes. • Receive, sort, and distribute camps mail, posters, and other materials to various locations. • Utilizes SharePoint and Microsoft Office in support of Residential Life projects. • Supports Residential Life technology initiatives. • Supports Residential Life financial processes and procedures. • Maintains Digital signage in Residential Life communities, including creating, participating in the digital signage administration group, assigning permissions, and creating and conducting Residential Life staff training. • Performs administrative tasks relating to Onboarding and Off-boarding student leaders and Residential Life full time staff. • Maintains Office Assistant resources such as SharePoint sites and onboarding and training materials. • Coordinates special projects as assigned. • Serves on unit and departmental committees as assigned.

Working knowledge of residential life and program administration are keys to successful performance. Though hired into a specific working title or location, all employees of Housing & Food Services are expected to support overall operations by: participating in cross-training, providing coverage during staff absences or high business volume, participating in production and/or service of special events, and being willing and able to perform additional, related duties and/or be reassigned to another work unit.

Working Conditions

This position works a regular Monday through Friday schedule; however, it may require the occasional evening and weekend commitment for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent AND Two years of clerical experience

OR

Equivalent Education/Experience.

Desirable Qualifications Experience that demonstrates:

• One year of experience working in a residential life or residential housing program. • Attention to detail. • Outstanding oral and written communication. • Success interpreting and communicating complex policies, procedures and agreements. • Proficiency with MS Office applications. • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. • Experience with budget preparation, maintenance, and monitoring. • Familiarity with SharePoint, creating pages, libraries, workflows and forms.

Conditions of Employment

• A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background check is required prior to hire. • A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes. • Membership in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Note: This position begins Upon Hire and is expected to run through 09/20/2024 .
