Microchip Technology Sr. Client Engagement Manager/ Sr. Field Sales Engineer - Data Center (Seattle, WA) in Seattle, Washington

As a client engagement manager, you will be responsible for identifying and building new business. You will be expected to re-frame the client’s thinking and build consensus for Microchip’s solutions, co-creating value by delivering clients the freedom to innovate.

Primary responsibility will be:

  • To grow Microchip (primarily DCS) revenue and footprint at US Data Center customers.

  • Lead design-win engagements: Prioritize, lead and close design-win engagements.

Duties will include

  • Understanding Data Center (DC) technology, sourcing strategy, and working collaboratively with divisions and global sales teams to drive Microchip solutions into DCs technology source of choice (organic development, OEM, ODM…)

  • Develop executive peering relationships.

  • Lead creation and execution of revenue growth strategy for responsible accounts working collaboratively with the broader Microchip team.

  • Through inputs from customers, provide guidance to marketing and engineering to define and implement strategies to foster the development of next generation product families

  • Travel to customer events (supplier day, Customer hosted/heavy participation trade shows, investor events) to gain insight into vision, strategy, product positioning.

  • Active research into customer market share, market size competitive positioning, technology trends impacting customer product strategy.



Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • BSEE, CS, or equivalent technical degree strongly preferred

  • 7+ years Sales Management experience selling into Data Centers/Storage/Servers

  • Strong and established executive (decision-making) relationships at DC’s.

  • Understanding of market and technology trends that are causing major shifts in revenue.

  • Strategic perspective: understanding of customer strategy, Microchip corporate strategy, competitive position (strengths and weaknesses), market growth/expansion initiatives, cost constraints, decision makers/influencers.

  • Proven and verifiable track record of consistent and timely achievement of quarterly sales objectives.

  • Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic, high paced environment.

  • Hands on, energetic and proven record of closing major account deals

  • Successful track record of targeting and penetrating major strategic accounts and managing complex sales teams

  • Mastery of the sales process from customer targeting, prospecting, pipeline management, strategic selling, top down selling, major account development, contract negotiations, and closing

  • Strong communication skills to interact with senior executive management, customers, strategic partners and presentations at technical conferences

  • BS/BA EE, CS, or equivalent required, MS/MBA desirable

  • Strong ability to work informally across company teams to drive effective sales efforts

  • Strong leadership skills with high personal energy and ability to energize others

  • Strong ability to prioritize internal resources in pursuit of a key accounts
