MassMutual Director, Securities Trade and Reconciliation in Springfield, Massachusetts
The Opportunity
As the Director, Securities Trade and Reconciliation you will lead a team of associates and be responsible for the daily automated and manual trade processing and data reconciliation. You will play a critical role in understanding the flow of complex trades and the creation and sourcing of security master information required to ensure trades flow accurately through the system. You will be responsible for reconciliations ensuring trades have loaded and processed through the system correctly and provide root cause analysis for problems when they occur. You will act as a point of escalation for complex issues and be empowered to make decisions impacting the team. You will actively focus on coaching the team, providing feedback, and encouraging knowledge transfer opportunities. Additionally, you will lead an effort to expand the team capabilities with offshore partners including training and transition plans. You will have a strong business acumen of investment types and their life cycle and demonstrate interest in continued development. The nature of the work will require perseverance, accountability, and resourcefulness to identify opportunities to improve processes that address the root causes of business challenges.
The Team
The Securities Trade and Reconciliation team is part of the Investment Data Integrity team reporting to the Head of Investment Data Integrity, part of the MassMutual Investment Operations team within the Investment Management division. Trade and Reconciliation analysts are accountable for the ingestion of the securities trade flowing into the investment ecosystem and maintaining security master information including data validation, researching and reconciling critical data elements and trade processing metrics.
The Impact:
Manage multiple and complex functions of the Securities Trade and Reconciliation team, including monitoring and error resolution of automated trade process and manual security master and trade processing from multiple sources
Address issues reported from business partners regarding missing or incomplete trade information
Create and report daily/monthly metrics regarding trade processing, new asset set ups and error tracking
Assist in determining the appropriate processing of complex transactions and projects related to trades
Ownership of trade related critical data element reconciliations and data traps
Provide ongoing training and coaching to team members, encouraging decision making and ownership of issues
Identify, implement and drive continuous improvement and efficiencies
Manage employee development, training and planning
Direct staff in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation and execution of internal and external audit remediation
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
7+ years of securities data experience with an understanding of securities life cycle
The Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related area
Knowledge of investment data management from ingestion of source data to end user reporting
Prior experience leading or managing a team
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, comfortable interacting with vendors, business partners, external managers and internal Investment teams a
Ability to work across multiple priorities with limited guidance
Ability to independently explore solutions to a problem and adapt quickly to changes
Collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment
Knowledge of Eagle PACE or like Data Management Tool
Knowledge of Eagle STAR or like Investment Accounting platform
Expert user of excel and proficient with SQL/Oracle query tools
Microstrategy or other reporting tool experience a plus

Salary Range: $128,000.00-$168,000.00
