Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is a premier provider of high-tech IT solutions to the federal government IT market. Together as GDIT we collectively deliver cost-effective, next-generation IT solutions and services to the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, and federal civilian agencies as they modernize their information systems. GDIT currently has a rapidly expanding program with 75+ people providing systems development, operational and infrastructure support, and application support to the Administrative Systems Office (ASO) of the Administrative Office of the US Courts.

The GDIT team is currently seeking a Quality Assurance (QA)/Test Engineer who thrives in a dynamic work environment. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a quality assurance plan, as well as testing and validating that our software projects and other deliverables meet the customer’s needs, to include tight deadlines. The candidate must be comfortable with taking charge of this process and demonstrating by example best practices and techniques to increase and improve the team’s efficiency, processes, and quality in an agile environment.

This role will work and communicate with a variety of groups, both functional and technical, to convert requirements to test cases, prepare test data, and execute both manual and automated testing to ensure high quality standards are being met.

The ideal QA/Test Engineer candidate needs to be a proven self-starter who is thorough in their work and thrives in a team environment yet requires limited supervision.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Functions as the QA/Test expert for a large-scale Web based Application, across functional units (where appropriate), serves as key coordinator between multiple project teams to develop, implement and maintain QA/Test initiatives.

  • Understands system requirements to create and advise on test cases from those requirements.

  • Designs and develops test documentation including Test Plans, step by step Test Cases, Test Scripts (where applicable), Test Data, Test Standards for automated and/or manual testing solutions, infrastructure and evaluating product quality.

  • Work with the team to identify issues in service and software, facilitate review of those issues with leads, and execute defect management as appropriate.

  • Ability to perform unit, integration, load, penetration, system, and data migration testing.

  • Defines, tracks, and manages issues and defects; ensure re-test and closure as appropriate (traceability).

  • Prepare Test Metrics, Test Results, and Ad-Hoc reports that show the progress of testing and the result of all tests.

  • Work with the Project team to ensure quality throughout the product lifecycle and possess the ability to recommend and obtain buy-in from the decision makers to implement quality improvement efforts.

Competencies:

  • 3-5 years of software testing experience including: Web-based manual and automated User Interface (UI) testing, back-end integration testing using the .NET Framework and API testing. Additional responsibilities include writing test plans, test cases, preparing test data and test execution.

  • Prior experience working in a federal IT system environment.

  • Experience working in Team Foundation Server (TFS), Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) software development methodologies and testing framework.

  • Demonstrated experience with C# unit testing frameworks such as MS Test, NUnit, or xUnit.

  • Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Experience with tools such as Selenium, Selenium Web-Driver, Neoload, JMeter and similar.

  • Proficiency with Office 365 and Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

  • Experience with Git source control manager with demonstrated ability to commit, push, branch, and merge code.

  • Proficiency with Technical Writing, Analytical Ability, Problem Solving skills.

  • Hands on experience with System Testing, Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and migration testing.

  • Experience with design and execution of test documentation including Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scripts, Test Data and Test standards independently.

  • Flexibility - able to understand existing systems and change priorities quickly and have a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills – ability to understand complex situations and to develop and implement a logical approach to a solution.

  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a fluid and dynamic environment, self-manage projects and communicate status.

  • Attention to Detail – ability to ensure the work and information are complete and accurate, by preparing carefully for meetings and presentations, and following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.

  • Communication – ability to converse (verbally and in writing) clearly and to quickly decipher information from technical and non-technical team members in order to understand the system functionality and to determine the best approach to conduct test execution. Ability to understand requirements documentation, functional specifications, high level design documentation and system documentation and to translate into testable requirements.

  • Influential Skill – ability to gain buy-in for ideas and solutions through logical argument.

  • Interpersonal Awareness – ability to notice, interpret, and anticipate others’ concerns and feelings.

  • Productivity – self-motivated, self-starter and quick learner. Ability to work under deadlines with heavy workloads as well as flexibility to work outside of normal business hours occasionally to meet testing needs.

  • Technical Acumen – strong understanding of software development concepts, procedures, and technologies utilizing Agile Methodology.

  • Working with a dynamic team to refine and expand the solutions based upon user’s feedback.

  • Analysis and verification of business requirements to Test Cases for completeness, consistency, feasibility, and testability.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of directly related experience (or MA/MS with 8+ years of directly related experience).
